Start a GLP-1 price comparison with a blank sheet, not the smallest number on a landing page. Write down the medication, the amount due today, what that payment buys and the next possible charge. These four details tell you much more than “from $79 a month.”
A monthly equivalent divides a longer purchase into months. It does not necessarily describe a monthly payment. An introductory membership is another category again: it may buy access to clinical care while leaving the medicine outside the fee. No arithmetic can make these offers comparable until you identify what is included.
One example, three different numbers
Likeness Rx's public semaglutide ladder lists $139 for the monthly option, $327 every three months, $534 every six months and $948 every twelve months. The twelve-month amount works out to $79 per month, but $948 is the published billing amount for that term. These are provider-advertised prices checked October 5, 2026, not a completed checkout or a prescription offer for a particular person. [Provider offer]
Ask yourself which number you can afford to have charged and how much flexibility you need. Treatment suitability, tolerability and circumstances can change. A lower monthly equivalent is one factor; the ability to stop before another charge is another. Neither establishes that an existing purchase can be refunded.
Separate the care fee from the medicine
Ro describes a $39 first month for Body membership and $149 per month for an ongoing monthly membership. Its medication is priced separately. WeightWatchers' current Med+ promotion lists a $25 first month on selected longer plans, followed by $74 monthly for the twelve-month plan or $84 monthly for the six-month plan; GLP-1 medication is excluded. These entry fees should not sit next to an all-in compounded offer without that distinction. [Provider offer] [Provider offer]
Insurance adds an additional uncertainty. A service can help with prior authorization without guaranteeing approval, continued coverage or a particular copay. Ask for both scenarios: the out-of-pocket cost if coverage is approved, and the charges you would still owe if it is denied. Avoid using a promotional membership fee as the estimate for the whole treatment.
A plan is not always a subscription
CoreAge Rx's help center distinguishes a one-time purchase from an optional subscription. A multi-month supply does not, on its own, enroll someone in recurring billing. The help center also states that an order becomes final once the prescription is approved and sent to the pharmacy. Stopping future renewals and cancelling an existing order are different requests. [Provider billing terms]
SuperHealthy Rx's offer describes optional auto-refill after the first order. Its $85 and $135 headline amounts appear on a page that still carries Labor Day sale language. We treat those as dated promotional claims and recommend obtaining the exact supply, charge and renewal selection before payment. A headline about a locked price does not answer every billing question. [Provider offer]
Keep a useful record before paying
- The exact medication and whether it is compounded or FDA-approved.
- The total charge today, any separate care fee and costs outside the advertised bundle.
- The supply purchased and expected shipment schedule.
- Whether renewal is enabled, when the next charge occurs and how to stop it.
- The point at which cancellation or a refund is no longer available.
Save the checkout terms and confirmation supplied by the company. If customer support clarifies a discrepancy, ask for that clarification in writing. Never include health records or payment-card details in a message to an editorial website; send sensitive information only through the provider's appropriate secure channel.
Use the provider comparison to identify the offer you want to inspect, then open the provider's own terms. A good comparison makes the differences visible. It cannot freeze a price or replace the contract you actually accept.
