Ending a membership still leaves a care decision

Cancellation, a pending pharmacy order and a treatment plan may follow three different timelines.

A cancellation button can stop a commercial relationship without explaining what happens to a prescription, an order already at the pharmacy or the next clinical review. Before leaving a GLP-1 service, separate the administrative task from the care conversation. Both deserve an answer, and one confirmation email may not settle both.

This is a guide to organizing a handoff, not an instruction to stop, restart or change medicine. NIDDK describes weight-management medication as a treatment whose benefits, side effects and duration should be discussed with a health professional. A billing deadline is not a dosing schedule.

Find out what the cancellation actually ends

Hers' current FAQ distinguishes two actions. Ending the membership also ends active medication plans and platform care access. Ending a medication plan does not by itself end the membership. That asymmetry matters: you could believe all charges have stopped when the care subscription remains active, or end access you still expected to use. See our Hers terms review.

Other services draw different boundaries. Henry says a person on a multi-month plan may still owe the remaining balance, subject to the stated medical exception. PlushCare separates membership cancellation from appointment changes and late-cancellation rules. Read the contract for your own selection rather than borrowing another company's definition of “cancel anytime.”

Ask about work already in progress

Identify whether a prescription has been issued, sent to a pharmacy, dispensed or shipped. Ask the company handling that stage what can still be changed. A stopped subscription does not establish that a pharmacy order has been reversed. Similarly, an order stopped before shipment does not establish that every earlier care fee will be returned.

Keep the date, confirmation number and scope of any cancellation response. A useful written response says which plan ended and which charges, if any, remain. If the answer only says “request received,” obtain the final status through the company's official support channel. Avoid sending payment information or medical histories to an editorial website.

Prepare the next clinician to assess the situation

FDA encourages maintaining an accurate medication list. For a handoff, include the actual product name, current prescription instructions, prescribing clinician and dispensing pharmacy. Record your most recent use accurately, along with any adverse effects or unresolved questions. Let the receiving professional decide what other records are needed.

If your next appointment is not yet arranged, tell the current care team. Ask how to obtain the records and whom to contact during the gap. Do not assume that another service will issue the same prescription, accept a previous assessment or approve a particular refill. A new professional may need an independent evaluation.

Close the loop on both tracks

On the administrative track, check the final account status and future billing selection. On the clinical track, obtain clear instructions from a qualified professional about the treatment plan and follow-up. If those instructions conflict or are incomplete, ask the teams to reconcile them before acting on a guess.

The provider checklist helps identify responsible clinicians and pharmacies before enrollment. Our first-quarter budget helps make longer commitments visible. Thinking about the exit while choosing a service is a practical way to protect continuity, not a prediction that treatment will fail.
